Grimm's Building Blocks, Waldorf Blocks and Counting Blocks - Grimm's blocks are hand finished and made in Germany: Beautiful wooden blocks mainly made from Alder, Lime, Maple and Cherry wood. Wood is a natural, regenerative resource that stimulates the senses. Wood is considered a sensory material since it has texture, it is hard, soft, light or dark. Wood can be rough or smooth and it has it's own smell. Different pieces of wood will sound different, it is heavy or light, has it's own temperature and bacteria cannot reproduce on wood. If wood breaks, it can easily be fixed and it is recyclable.

Grimm's extensive range of wooden blocks incl. Counting Blocks and Stepping Blocks. The stepped counting blocks come in the basic form of 2 x 2 cm and 4 x 4 cm and are frequently found in Waldorf Schools and Montessori Schools. Both forms are used for building and playing, whilst learning the correct order of the rainbow and the feeling for colors. Children of all ages will learn the difference between length and width as well as spatial thinking. Counting blocks can also be used as simple counting machine. Grimm's Waldorf Blocks are refreshingly different. Irregular size blocks, some with the bark on the blocks (tree blocks or branch blocks). All Waldorf Blocks are colored with water based dyes. No lacquer is used on Grimm's blocks in order to provide children with additional sensory stimulation and the blocks also don't fall over as easily when stacked (because of a rougher surface). Grimm's Waldorf Blocks are fun for stacking and pretend play and provide lot's of opportunity for imaginative play, especially if combined with natural materials like wooden sticks, branches, pieces of glass, rocks, pine cones and more.
