More about Stockmar - from their website:
Colour: For all Stockmar products, the selection and combination of primary colours is based on the natural graduation of the twelve-part colour-circle, in accordance with Goethe's colour theory.
This twelve-part colour-circle represents the natural progression of the colour spectrum - from yellow through red, blue and green, then back to yellow. The visible colours of the prismatic band can be broken down into the three primary colours - red, blue and yellow - and by combining these colours, we get all other visible colours.
In his study, Goethe examines colour from several different viewpoints. In his colour theory he first shows which physiological effects colours have on the human eye. His physics experiments with lenses and prisms then prove that colours emerge or develop for the observer between light and darkness. In addition, he examines the ""sensory-moral"" effect of colour on mind and soul. His chemical studies, on the other hand, deal with colour as tangible matter.
In cooperation with the School of Arts in Hamburg, Stockmar is envolved in further research on colours with respect to their sensual-moral and esthetic effects. Stockmar employees are encouraged to paint on a regular basis in order to gain personal experience in handling colours and observing their effects.
Stockmar's take on Quality control and Ecology: Educational, artistic and aesthetic aspects play an essential role in the development and improvement of Stockmar products.
Since the company was founded, developing products to serve people and to encourage their individual growth has been the essence of Stockmar's corporate identity. Our quality principles are based on these motives.
To ensure the development of products that are in keeping with these principles Stockmar has always selected the finest raw materials and manufacturing procedures. In cooperation with an independent institute, all raw materials are carefully selected and the manufacturing techniques controlled. This guarantees that Stockmar products are harmless to health and the environment .
Since Stockmar considers the standard specifications set by certain regulations to be too lax, own parameters have been established. For example, Stockmar doesn't consider the tests to be rigorous enough that are used to determine the limit for toxic substances in pens, paint and modelling wax, as defined in the EURONORM Din 71 (EN 71). Here the company therefore adheres to the standards specified in the food provision ordinance, which are much stricter than the regulations for the toy industry. In cases where no standards have even been set by the food provision ordinance, Stockmar has established its own parameters. In this way a strict internal quality-control system with more stringent standards has evolved. The Stockmar seal ""constant raw material control"" represents these company standards.
